Stories and Serenade

Where a Song Leads to a Story and A Story Leads to a Song.

Every Second Tuesday of the Month at Fitzergald’s,

A Story event with a musical twist

with Cathy Richardson of Jefferson Starship!

Now in our 13th year!

The Human Juke Box

Cathy Richardson is the kind of artist musicians admire. Since 2008, she's been the voice of Jefferson Starship, personally chosen by the band's co-founder, Paul Kantner, to step into the role made legendary by Grace Slick. She's not only carried that legacy for nearly two decades, but has also co-written music with Grace Slick and appeared on the band's acclaimed album Mother of the Sun.

Before Jefferson Starship, Cathy starred as Janis Joplin in the original off-Broadway production of Love, Janis, a performance that led her to tour with Janis Joplin's original band, Big Brother and the Holding Company. In 2018, Grace Slick personally invited Cathy to sing in her place when Jefferson Airplane accepted its Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award—a remarkable vote of confidence from one of rock's greatest voices.

Add to that a Grammy nomination, seven independent albums, national television and radio commercial work, and a career sharing stages with legendary artists across the classic rock world, and it's easy to see why Cathy is so extraordinary.

That's why she's the musical glue of Voice Box. She doesn't just know the songs—she's lived the history. Whether she's channeling Janis Joplin, Grace Slick, or putting her own unmistakable stamp on a classic, Cathy brings an authenticity and versatility that few singers can match. She's our human jukebox, and every show is better because she's in it.

Best Night Ever 2026!

It’s a story. It’s a song. A Serenade. A surrender. A place to be heard. And to hear about the current human condition.

Where folks like us come to connect, spin, weave, and unfurl. Where a story leads to a song, and a song leads to a story.

And the beat goes on and out and up and

Where your feet tap to the rhythm, your head nods in agreement. And your heart pounds in anticipation for the chance to share your voice.
